Sore nipples.

With a saucy title like that, how can this blog fail?

Righto, Saturday was spent down at the Tri clinic to see how I would fare after doing a sort of a mini tri. I've only been doing biking+running together with swimming on a separate day. So since it was the last clinic, I thought I'd just pop by and try all three events together.

Met up with my mates there - namely Janice, Andrew, Nik, Pling, and Rina. There were a lot more people than usual, seems like everyone else had the same idea. I was also riding on Rina's hardtail that I borrowed just for this Tri while my Blur was getting its crack sorted out by Two Wheel Action.

The swim started off nicely, with me keeping Janice in sight while the amphibians Andrew and Rina disappeared from view. Two loops of 400m each. It started raining on the 2nd loop and the water became really choppy. I enjoyed the waves because I reminded me of the times I went swimming in the sea off Cottesloe beach in Perth, WA.

With the swim done, I kept my trunks on, threw on a running singlet, changed into my running shoes, and mounted the bike. The biking part was quite easy except that I found my inner thighs rubbing the saddle the wrong way. Well, 15kms wouldn't do much damage, and it didn't. The light drizzle wet the route and resulting in much of the tire spray entering my mouth. Yummy.... NOT!

With the ride over, I racked my bike and headed out for the run. I decided on doing only 4kms to see if it would hurt but it was fine. Since I had fed a little too much on the bike, I developed a stitch early on in the run that faded after about 1.5kms.

Little did I know it then but with my singlet soaked from the bike ride rubbing against my salt encrusted body, I was in for a sore time later.

With the event over, I showered, changed and met up with Janice, Andrew and several of their friends for makan at East Coast Hawker Centre. It was a cool evening with dinner shared amongst like minded individuals. Very nice.

Before too long, I deserted them as I had to pick up KMY and Jaswant (plus bike) who had parked their cars at F2 and needed a lift to Bukit Timah where a bike ride was to start. The end point would be East Coast at about 2:30am on Sunday.

So anyway, once home, I got into the shower and yelped when the warm water hit my tits. All that abrasion had taken a toll the pointy bits. This is an apparently common phenomenon, especially during events like the marathon. Sore bits for two days. I must be nuts!

Reminder to self: Need to get Body Glide or something similar for the actual event.

Yeah, petroleum jelly is the cheap alternative but might not last as long as Body Glide. Who knows, my next post might just be on the many uses of vaseline.
