Been there! Done that!

It's over. Luckily with not much pain but a whole lot of satisfaction.

The swim, as expected, was a real mess. Too much close body contact with other swimmers coupled with a choppy sea made it a little difficult for me to achieve a good time. Moreover, having bad eyesight and a fogged up pair of goggles resulted in me nearly tripping into the foot bath. Aquaman indeed!

The biking leg was a breeze and it was easy to maintain good cadence throughout the 20km. Head wind was a bitch going back into the transition area though.

The 5km run turned out to be the worst part of my tri. A stitch early on lasted me throughout the whole run, retarding my pace somewhat. I reckon that it added 5 minutes to my eventual time.

I don't know the actual time yet but am happy to have completed it. I'll post again once I have the official results.

Catherine and her team, the Tri Virgins, had a good race and were chuffed to have taken part. Her running leg was so quick that when we went to the finish line to take her photo, the silly girl was already resting under the shade of a tree, looking none the worse for wear and wondering where we all were!

Methinks she should take part in the full relay next year.

Cheerio folks!

Janice, thanks! Still nothing close to your achievement. Next year, I'll do the full distance or at least attempt to....
